Welcome to the 10th edition of Scooping The Screen, our own original feature in which books on television and in film will be spotlighted. This feature will be posted at varying frequencies, so please keep checking our site for further updates (although I hope to have it out at least once a week).
~BOOKS ON TELEVISION~
CBS Studios is developing, The Lost Girls based on the travel memoir by Jennifer Baggett, Holly Corbett and Amanda Pressner (but with an added mystery twist). Rebecca Sinclair will write and produce. For more information, please check out Deadline.
A pair of projects based on Greek Mythology are in the works: Olympus (a soldier is a descendant of the gods) and Athena (based on the graphic novel Headache by Lisa Joy). For more information, please check out Deadline.
ABC is developing Evolve, based on the Toxic City trilogy by Tim Lebbon. The dystopian story centers around the aftermath of a biological attack in Los Angeles. For more information please check out Deadline.
Rumors are circulating that Season 5 of Merlin will be its last. However, according to this video, it seems like the BBC is trying to negotiate for a sixth season and/or a feature film.
Hurricane Sandy has wrecked much havoc in the past week and not even television studios were exempt. Many of the sets for ABC's 666 Park Avenue were destroyed. It is unknown if the low-rated series will just end or if production will begin again (the latter sounds more likely according to this article).
