Feature & Follow Friday (1)

Hello everyone! This is our very first time participating in this meme and we hope it will be very successful.

Feature and Follow Friday is hosted by Alison Can Read and Parajunkee.

This week's question is...

Q: What hyped up book do you think was not worth all the talk?
The hyped up book series that is definitely not worth all the talk is The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare. I know this is an INCREDIBLY unpopular opinion, but I can't help it. I loved the original TMI trilogy, so as a fan I was definitely going to check out the prequel, but TID books just don't click with me. Clockwork Angel was a chore to get through and one of the only books in recent memory that I had to actually power through to finish. Clockwork Prince was slightly better, but I don't really like 2 of the main 3 characters (Team Jem here...I heavily dislike Will (another unpopular opinion) and I have mixed feelings about Tessa) , the Will/Tessa/Jem triangle feels forced (I wish Will/Tessa would stop treating Jem like an idiot because he's dying!) and the main plot is tepid at best. I do plan on reading Clockwork Princess to finish out the series, but I don't hold out much hope that things will get better.
Let me know what you think in the comments! Or if you want, you can just say hi!

  1. I know you don't like that series much. I suppose it doesn't appeal to everyone.
At least its only a trilogy, unlike TMI where in total it will be 6 books.

    Hii back! ;)

I would say I'm a new follower, yet that's not true, hah.

  2. I'm not on either team. Well, okay maybe a bit. I drew back from one in favor of an entirely different team that's not seen. New Follower.

  4. I've read the 5 TMI but none of TID ones, I'm just not sure about them. I hear good things about them most of the time though, just can't bring myself to get them.

    Thanx for visiting my FF!

  8. I never read the series because I didn't think the blurb was that interesting. I am still 50-50 if I should try it out.

  14. following you back.

well I LOVE the TMI and Infernal Devices. To me, got to read both to really enjoy them, and i like getting to know the ancestors of the TMI characters, and all the wonder, as we know Will has to be an ancestor of Jace, as he was the last Hereondale, and knowing that, makes it that more exciting.
I didn't think I would like The Infernal devices either, but gave them a try, and am glad I did. As I usually do not read books that are considered steampunk, which since that takes place in 1800's London, it is, but I loved it, and can't wait for Clockwork Princess. I love Will and Tess, Jem is ok, think he may end up being Brother Zack (there is alot of discussion on this in my Cassandra Clare book club at GR) so means he may actually found a way to live, become a Silent Brother, but we shall see)I better stop, lol, as I am very passionate about both these series, lol. (Its why I HATE this weeks question, wish they would focus more on the positive)
Oh, and in many ways, Infernal Devices series is better than TMI, but its more a tie for me, They both should be read to really enjoy them.
By the way, love your blog design. Very cool, Still working on mine, need a new template part, love my header i been working on (Notice the Fearless Rune tattoo on my girl in header, lol)

  17. Thanks for stopping by my FF. See I read the first IMI book and even though I liked it I didn't fall in love with it. I did get the first book in the infernal devices because it was recommended. Still going to give it a chance but not something I'll be reading anytime soon.

  24. I definitely prefer the original TMI trilogy to the ID books. I like them, but I like TMI better. But that might be because I just don't like love triangles. I do get what you mean about how Will and Tessa treat Jem because of his illness. I wouldn't like that, were I in his position.

  25. I actually really enjoyed the TID series :) I didn't think I would at first but I guess sometimes things don't go quite as we expected. Glad to hear you loved the TMI series though- I love the first three books but seem to lose a bit of interest as they go on from there.
